Frequently Asked Questions
-
Simply Paper is made from agricultural waste of the sugar industry, including the leaves, stems, and stalks left behind after harvests of sugarcane. Rather than being burned or discarded, the sugarcane bagasse is transformed into high-quality copy paper, giving agricultural waste a valuable second life.
-
Agricultural waste includes the parts of crops that remain after harvest and food processing, such as the stems, leaves and stalks of plants like rice, wheat and sugarcane. While the food industry primarily uses the seeds, fruits, roots or juice, which make up around 20% of the plant, the remaining 80% is often considered agricultural waste.
Traditionally, these leftover plant fibres are discarded or burned. At Simply Paper, we see them differently. Instead of treating them as waste, we transform these valuable natural fibres into high-quality copy paper, giving agricultural by-products a second life while reducing reliance on trees.
-
We use 95% agriculutral waste, meaning only 5% Instead, we use agricultural waste from existing crop production to create high-quality copy paper.
By giving these natural fibres a second life, we help reduce deforestation, protect biodiversity, and minimise waste.
Our manufacturing process also uses less water and energy than traditional paper production, resulting in a carbon footprint that is 38% lower than conventional wood pulp paper.
-
No. We only use the non-edible by-products of food crops, such as the stems, leaves and stalks left behind after the sugarcane harvest.
By transforming these agricultural by-products into paper, we provide farmers with an additional source of income while reducing the amount of material that would otherwise be burned or sent to landfill.
-
Yes, our paper meets or exceeds the performance of traditional wood pulp paper:
Excellent whiteness and opacity
Compatible with all printers (inkjet, laser, copier)
Jam-free performance
Smooth finish for professional results
-
Recycled paper still relies on wood pulp at its origin, and its fibres eventually degrade.
Simply Paper uses 100% agricultural waste fibres, no virgin trees, no recycled tree pulp.
It is also produced with a lower environmental impact than recycled paper in key areas such as energy use and CO₂ emissions.
-
Yes. Simply Paper is made from natural plant fibres, making it biodegradable and compostable.
-
Our paper is produced in mills located close to agricultural regions in India, where locally sourced farm waste is collected from nearby farms. This reduces transportation emissions while supporting local farmers and strengthening the circular economy.
Simply Paper is also manufactured by a certified B Corporation, ensuring the entire production process meets rigorous social and environmental standards.
-
Simply Paper is manufactured in India, where a wide variety of agricultural crops are grown and processed. The paper mill is located within these farming regions, allowing agricultural waste to be sourced locally from nearby farms.
The mill is a leader in sustainable paper production, specialising in transforming agricultural waste into high-quality paper. This innovative process is the result of many years of research and development.
-
For every tonne of paper purchased through Simply Paper, an average of 26 trees are saved from being cut down.
By making the switch to agricultural wastepaper, every purchase contributes to reducing the demand for virgin wood pulp. Over time, those choices add up, helping to protect thousands of trees and preserve our forests for future generations.
-
Our paper has been shown to achieve a 38% reduction in carbon footprint compared to equivalent conventional paper.
-
Our paper is made from agricultural waste. Using agricultural waste as raw material for quality paper is logical, as well as innovative. It is so innovative that renowned (environmental) organisations such as FSC, do not yet acknowledge this raw material for paper and paperboard as a possibility in their policy. Therefore, Simply Paper’s product cannot yet be certified for a FSC label.

Our Founder
Mathieu Dechamps
I’m a sustainability-driven entrepreneur on a mission to rewrite Australia’s paper story, one sheet at a time.
Frustrated by the lack of eco-friendly paper options, I founded a business that offers a better solution: high-quality copy paper made from agricultural waste. Our paper helps reduce deforestation and cuts carbon emissions, without compromising on performance.
I believe in building a business that’s good for both the planet and the people behind it. From schools to businesses to government organisations, I want to make it easy for Australians to choose a smarter, greener alternative to traditional wood pulp paper.
Clear communication and real impact drive everything we do, because changing the industry starts with changing perceptions, one customer at a time.
